I love reading about the chicks. I never thought of chickens having that much personality, but cats and dogs do, so why not?
A couple of my friends were planning to fly back to the US from Spain and were stopped by the power outage. Those are always annoying, but these days I can see how it would be scary, too.
It was a trifecta for anxiety for sure - the totality of the outage, in a place where we are a bit isolated (a farm with few actual neighbors) and not knowing the language well. I’m glad it’s over.
I pray that you never stop regaling us with the ups and downs, gossip and headlines of the guys and gals and yours and h’s interactions and antics. I do miss having chickens. thank you.
Sean Dietrich was talking about the power being out in Spain. He is a singer, songwriter and a book writer and entertainer. A Will Rogers type of person and he and his wife are walking the Camino trail. They informed us that everything was out, and it was the first time he had been in a country where the whole country was dark.
I understand the term about cleaning the chicken coop. Even though they would be out in the yard as soon as I locked the gate and went in the barn to clean up you would think I was doing something magical and they all needed to find out what it was.
wow that must have been quite a sight from the Camino trail...when I first moved to San Francisco they were having rolling blackouts and downtown businesses were turning off the lights at night, so the city skyline was quite dark and I thought *that* was eerie, but the entire country was something else altogether. It was really strange, how QUIET everything was.
I was rolling on the floor with tears in my eyes as you carefully recounted all the naming logic of your troupe. I love these accounts, no matter the subject or situation, and despite the fear and anxiety of the power outage my wife and I agreed that we would still rather be in Portugal struggling with understanding what was happening than being here in the States where another "Ronald McDonald" (ours is an orange clown surrounded by mindless minions) is busy soiling our chicken coop and its safety and security.

I love your chick updates, and how the two little families are doing. It’s such a palate cleanser from the other daily news.
I’m so glad to hear that. Sometimes sitting and just observing them is like hitting a reset button for me.

I can see why you'd miss them - they are very entertaining. And affectionate!

I’m very relieved my chicken naming conventions aren’t putting everyone to sleep !
