Today is Portugal Day or to be more precise Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas (Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities).
I understand this, but because I never do food shopping it really had nothing to do with supermarkets, other than the fact that there are no big sized containers of anything in the refrigerator. They just don’t sell them here. A gallon of anything would be like a UFO in the fridge. (unidentified food object)
Mostly I no longer look at the electrical plugs and think how odd they look. However, whenever I’m doing electrical wiring, I always have to look up the color codes for the wires. I just don’t remember them.
Shaun has fully recovered but for some reason he walks a bit like a wind-up toy now. It's very formal and cute.
Yes, the plugs! They no longer look weird. Nor do the refrigerators look too narrow, and the toilet flushers seem regular now too, that was an adjustment.
aw you are. true Jakebrother! I am finishing up the next post which iis all about Jake who has just begun his 15th year of chocolate perfection....stay tuned
There are now definitely pretty parts. There is always something that needs doing but we've come a long way from the way it was upon arrival - an air of abandonment pervaded dued to missing windows, collapsed roofs and everything covered in brambles and English Ivy....
What a lovely post. Lapped it all up like a delicious fou fou - I don’t know what that tastes like but my imagination is filling in the gaps. Loved the chicken politics. Are the villagers ok with the cockerel letting rip so early every day? I can just imagine the uproar over here in my little corner of Scotland if I were to acquire a rooster.
We do have a national celebration of a poet over here: Rabbie Burns night on 25th January, when the haggis is dressed "Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o the puddin' race..."
How wonderful! One of my favorite trees, except for the mess! 🤣
there are many of them here in Southern California. There is a street in Fullerton California where I lived called Jacaranda Street name for the trees line both sides. I always wanted to live in the house on that street but never had the opportunity. It’s just gorgeous! Enjoy them, they’re so gorgeous!
Loved this post so much. You have captured the awe and love and passion you are enjoying every day. Brava!
'brigada!
de-foreignified!

I hope brawny Shaun is ok!

Love all the details in your posts - but my favorite stories involve Jake (of course)! How could it be otherwise?!
