Thanks Sandra.

It is such a privilege to take care of an aging dog. A longtime loving relationship coming to a poignant end. The tragic part of it , of course, is the loss of youth and the truncated love that has become expected and normal. The nice part is being able to do for this loved one what we would want someone to do for us when we face that extremity.

Best Wishes to you and Jake

Dan

Lovely post! We had chickens for several years and learned so much from that experience. So fun!

I just love chickens and it's so nice to read about yours since I've had to give mine up. I'm in town, had 5 in the backyard, had some babies hatch ... 5 happy years, and then a neighbour complained to the municipality!

I'm so sorry your neighbor was such a scrooge. I worry a bit as we do have some neighbors that can hear the roosters, but I think most people feel like, they've lived here for decades, wild, and why start complaining now. Also one neighbor girl told me sweetly that she likes being the only person she knows whose alarm clock is a rooster (well, a couple of dozen roosters).
